VDM is one of the first applications to make use of XML Forms to define the user interface; similar to the use of XAML user interface technology in the upcoming release of Windows Vista ©. These XML Forms can be generated automatically from existing SQL or ODBC Data and easily modified in VDM or other editors to produce a consistent and reliable user interface based on common Office Applications like Outlook © and Excel © that minimizes training and support costs.

VDM extends the power of XML Forms Technology by automatically creating Rich Text Templates for output in RTF, HTML or Postscript © depending on the intended use. These Templates and their output can be easily modified with existing skills in common Office Applications like Word © to tailor the output to your needs and corporate image.

The User Interface in VDM was designed to minimize training and support by running within Windows Explorer ©, by incorporating the familiar Navigation Tree from Outlook © and providing easy Excel © like editing of grid data. Multimedia files are easily Dragged and Dropped in and out of VDM, while thumbnails are automatically generated and optionally rotated for fast image preview or for eMail and Web output.

Because of its seamless integration of regular and multimedia data in a familiar interface, VDM is ideally suited for managing product specifications and generating eCommerce sites, product sheets, brochures and catalogs in many formats using the correct set of Templates. When available VDM makes use of an ever growing list of Web Services to lookup phone numbers, generate maps and translate text.
